Blanket Exercise Treaty 7

This experiential activity is designed to build understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada by walking through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance. Everyone is actively involved as they step onto blankets that represent the land, and into the role of First Nations, Inuit and later Métis peoples. By engaging on an emotional and intellectual level, the Blanket Exercise effectively educates and increases empathy. This Blanket Exercise is focused on the Treaty 7 area.

Tipi Teachings

Come join us as we explore the symbolism of the tipi, with the tipi teachings guiding us in the good values that make up an honourable person, including how we care for ourselves and one another in community, and how we live in harmony with all things.

Tobacco Teachings

This teaching shares a relational-wellness perspective as we re-connect back to Land and listen to Mother Earth, our best teacher. Join Jodi Staples in her personal journey and understanding of growing, caring, and learning from Tobacco.

Dance and Regalia

Come join us to learn about the history of Indigenous dance styles, regalia, and the Powwow.  Sit back and enjoy the drums as our dancers demonstrate various dance styles and join in to learn a few steps!

Indigenous Floor Map

Join us as we explore the Indigenous floor map of Canada. This immersive and interactive geographic resource provides a visually rich representation of Indigenous territories, cultures, and histories across the country. This map serves as a bridge to understanding Indigenous communities and their deep connection to the land.

 7 Sacred Teachings

Come and join our journey as we delve into the Seven Sacred Teachings, a pathway towards cultivating a life of harmony and balance. Discover how these teachings can be integrated with Indigenous perspectives, emphasizing the connections with Creator, the land, and each other. These invaluable insights from Elder Jackie Bromley highlight the teachings from the Blackfoot nation.

Feet In Two Worlds

This presentation will explore First Nation students lived experiences as they negotiate between urban and nation settings. Intergenerational trauma, student and family supports, self-healing and cultural connections will be discussed.
